We are Passionate.

We place a high value on God’s presence and His Word. Our desire is to see God’s Kingdom lived out here on Earth as it is in Heaven. We love Jesus with all of our hearts and give 100% in all we do inside the church as well as out. We represent our King in all we do!

We are Real.

We strive to love and serve people without expectations. We strive to create a real community that is not afraid to engage with the culture around us in order that we might see Christ revealed in them.

We are Engaging.

We offer people an opportunity to encounter Christ. Our vision statement is to see lives changed, relationships restored and destinies discovered. We take great care to create an environment that can transform people by the presence of Jesus Christ.

We are Relevant.

We choose as a church to invest in this generation as well as the next. At Mercy Gate, we live outside of the 4 walls where we have church. We’re always doing something in the community and growing together as a church family.

What do you believe?

We believe that as a church we are to be a light to our community. We are a place where the hurting and hopeless come to get answers and leave with healing and hope. We believe that with the same measure of forgiveness that we have been given; that we also need to give out to others. We are the living, breathing hands and feet of Jesus. We aren’t just a club of believers that look cute but we are people on a mission to make a difference in this life. We are a family with ups and downs and issues; so do not be afraid to join us….none of us are perfect on this side of heaven!

For a detailed list of our doctrinal beliefs you can click on this link: Doctrinal Beliefs

How do I find out about events at MGC?

How do I learn more about how to be saved?

The Bible clearly teaches that Salvation is a gift from God (Ephesians 2:8). It is not brought about by anything that we do. Webster defines the term gift as “something voluntarily transferred by one person to another without compensation”. God’s plan of salvation is freely given without us doing anything more than accepting it.

Here are a few simple steps to help us understand God’s plan.

1. Acknowledge your sin and its end result.
For all have sinned. Romans 3:23a
For the wages of sin is death. Romans 6:23a

2. Believe that Jesus died for your sin.
The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23b

3. Confess your sin and ask him to save you.
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:13
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1John 1:9

Also ask Him to help you make a commitment to live your life so that it pleases Him by a condition of repentance. Webster defines it as : “to turn from sin and dedicate oneself to the correction of one’s life”

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2Corinthians 5:17

Dear Lord Jesus,

Thank You for dying on the cross for my sin. Please forgive me. Come into my life. I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Now, help me to live for You the rest of this life.

In the name of Jesus, I pray.

Amen.

Some Christians call this type of prayer the Sinner’s Prayer. While there is no example of a sinner’s prayer in the Bible, it is based on Romans 10:9-10:

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. (NIV)
If you’re wondering what to do next as a new Christian, check out these helpful suggestions:

Salvation is by grace, through faith. There’s nothing you did, or ever can do, to deserve it. It’s a free gift from God. All you have to do is receive it!
Tell someone about your decision. It’s important that you tell someone to make it public, secure, and firm. Find a brother or sister in the Lord and tell him or her, “Hey, I made a decision to follow Jesus.” And do it today if you can. It’s a great way to seal the deal.
Talk to God every day. You don’t have to use big fancy words. There are no right and wrong words. Just be yourself. Thank the Lord daily for your salvation. Pray for others in need. Seek his direction. Pray for the Lord to fill you daily with his Holy Spirit. There is no limit to prayer. You can pray with your eyes closed or open, while sitting or standing, kneeling or lying on your bed, anywhere, and anytime.

–Read the Bible everyday. God will speak to you through His Word! It is life giving and is our guide book in life!

–Get involved in a church. Being a part of a church not only helps you to grow spiritually but will assist you in developing into the person that God intended you to be. We were not made to do this life alone!

Freedom Ministry

Pastor Holly Fitzhenry is over our Freedom ministries here at MercyGate Church.

What is MercyGate Freedom Ministries?
MercyGate Freedom Ministries is a completely free of charge ministry through our church. We believe that freedom is not the absence of something, but the presence of someone– namely, Jesus Christ. The idea of Freedom Ministries is to teach people how to engage the presence of God for a deeper personal relationship and for personal inner healing. We do this by teaching each person how to hear the voice of God for themselves, empowering them to learn about their identity in Christ, as well as equipping them with practical tools such as learning about the gift of forgiveness, renewing the mind, and prayerfully healing life hurts.

At this time, we offer individual Freedom Sessions on a limited basis. In the future, we hope to train additional Freedom Coaches to expand our availability for Freedom Sessions. We also hope to host a KAIROS Conference in 2017 to reach many more lives with the message of freedom in Christ. Lastly, we offer referrals to local professional Christian counselors as needed, to other thriving churches currently offering helpful ministries such as Celebrate Recovery, Divorce Care, etc., and referrals to inner healing ministries.

What is an individual Freedom Session?
Freedom sessions consist of the person meeting with a member of the Freedom Team. Additionally, we typically have a session intercessor present whose job is to quietly pray throughout the session. The session intercessor will also pray for the person seeking freedom during the week in their personal prayer times.

Sessions are for the most part confidential. We do not discuss details of the sessions with staff members. However, since Freedom Sessions take place at the church, we cannot guarantee that someone would not know you were having a session if they saw you at the church with Freedom Coach. Executive Leadership at MercyGate Church periodically reviews our session load, but we do not discuss details. Lastly, if a professional consult is needed to help us best serve the individual, we do our best to protect their anonymity while seeking outside wisdom.

We will refer the individual if they need more specialized or professional care. Confidentiality is also subject to the normal exceptions– if we are made aware of suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation, child abuse, elder abuse, etc. then we have a moral and a legal obligation to report such things and Executive Leadership at MercyGate Church may need to be notified as well.

Please remember that Freedom Ministries is not a counseling ministry. Rather, it is more of a prayer-based ministry for discipleship and empowerment to grow in your relationship with Christ. Should you desire professional Christian counseling, referrals are available upon request.

How May I Schedule a Freedom Session?

A huge part of the Freedom Ministries journey is learning a new way of thinking especially about God and ourselves. The first step in that process is to take the Freedom Basics classes. We are not presently offering the Freedom Basics classes, but we have them available for you to view online through Gateway Church in Southlake, Texas. Prior to scheduling a session, we ask you to listen to Freedom Basics 101-104: https://gatewaypeople.com/ministries/freedom/events/freedom-basics and submit a paragraph for each teaching. In your paragraphs, we ask you to apply what you learned to your life situation. You can submit your paragraphs with your Freedom Questionnaire.

Next, your Freedom Questionnaire must be completed for the Freedom Minister/Coach to learn a little more about you and what you are facing as well. We need your signed release in order for you to be a part of prayer/freedom ministries. Feel free to either return via e-mail (please don’t forget to sign!) or to bring with you to your session. Please note that if you do not have the paperwork completed, we will utilize the first several minutes of our time together for you to complete it. To request the paperwork, please e-mail holly@mercygatechurch.com

Healing Rooms

Healing Rooms is organized by our Pastor Holly Fitzhenry.

What is MercyGate Healing Rooms?
MercyGate Healing Rooms is an opportunity for the people of MercyGate Church and the community at large to receive prayer for physical healing. God is doing amazing things at our church in the area of physical healing! People have reported healing and/or marked improvement from their condition after visiting the Healing Rooms. Also, we have seen God perform many healings sovereignly during church services and in our Home Groups. God is good!

We host MGHR once per month right now by appointment only on every 3rd Thursday of the month. From 7:00-7:30 p.m. we have a time of welcome, a short teaching on what healing is, and also some worship. We cultivate a calm, peaceful, loving atmosphere. We often have several members of the Prayer Team present simply to quietly pray in their seat the entire time. In advance, we schedule prayer appointments from 7:30-8:30 p.m. on a first come, first serve basis. Prayer appointments last approximately 10-15 minutes. When it is your appointment time, you are seated with a group consisting of 3 Healing Team Members. These 3 people each have a specific role to play. They first introduce themselves and then all 3 will pray for you. Once your appointment has finished, you are welcomed to remain in the Sanctuary to enjoy the peaceful environment or you are free to leave and enjoy the rest of your evening as you so choose.

*Please note that we are happy to pray for your child or teen at Healing Rooms, but there is no childcare available for additional children who attend at this time.

How do I Sign-up for MercyGate Healing Rooms?
If you are interested in participating in MGHR; check out our events page where typically we are scheduled on the 3rd Thursday of every month. We would be honored to pray with you and believe God for total healing in your body! Please click the link below to fill out the form online to sign-up:

https://form.jotform.com/MercyGate/mercygate-healing-rooms-intake-form

*Please note that our Healing Rooms fill up in advance from time to time. As such, please be prepared to attend the following month’s Healing Room if the one you requested is already full. Thank you for your understanding! For more information you can contact our Freedom Pastor holly@mercygatechurch.com

Now that’s something worth getting excited about! We have kids services during any regularly scheduled adult service for your convenience.

Children from all walks of life are accepted and loved at Mercygate Kids. We strive to make our campus a safe place for children physically, mentally, and spiritually. No matter what happens to your child throughout the week, MercyGate Kids is a stable, fun environment for them to experience Christ and to be exactly who God created them to be! Each week at MercyGate Kids, our goal is to help your child grow in their relationship with Christ, identify their gifts, and utilize their talents to further the Kingdom of Heaven.

Our moto is “Where Your Child Belongs”. I would say my biggest want out of our children’s ministry is not just the willingness to minister to all children but to have the capability to minister to all children including special needs. I want us to be able to effectively minister to children from all walks of life. No one is turned away.

Pastor Calvin emphasizes that Mercygate Kids exists to disciple children through the basics of biblical knowledge and the fundamentals of having a relationship with Jesus Christ; while giving parents the tools they need to continue that discipleship at home.

MercyGate Serve Group

bigstock-group-of-diverse-hands-togethe-109645244-848x500Serve Groups are small groups where people connect to serve and join teams in the church to use their gifting and anointing for God’s glory. It is an opportunity for people to grow in their gifts and talents!

Volunteer in Serve Groups
Serve Groups exist inside and outside of the church. They provide a way for you to use your talents to honor God. Here at MercyGate Church, we’ve got serve groups for coffee baristas, audio/visual, greeters and even emergency medical people!  YOUR talents can be used in our office, in the parking lot, on stage, or helping to keep the church beautiful. Outside of the church, we are always looking for people that are willing to serve others through various opportunities like driving, providing meals, or maybe just offering up a friendly visit or phone call. No matter how little that you feel you can give to serve, there is a way for you to change someone’s world through one day in a serve group.

Send an email to Info@mercygatechurch.com and make sure you respond to what area you are interested in serving in.  Below are some examples:

  • Red Carpet Ministry: Greeter, Parking team, Connection Center
  • Coffee Shop: Barista, Register, Coffee Set up/Clean up
  • Sound Booth: Sound board, Cameras, Pro presenter
  • Worship: Instruments, Choir
  • Kids: Teacher, Hall Monitor, Kids Check in, Nursery attendant
  • Office: Office volunteer, Phone Calls, Envelope stuffer…..

and so much more! If you have a talent and you want to use it for the Kingdom…let us know!

MercyGate Connect Groups

Connect groups are one of three Small Groups that we have here at MercyGate Church. Our Small groups consist of Connect groups, Home Groups and Serve Groups.

Connect groups have one, simple purpose: to bring people together. We believe God created us to live in relationship with others and only then can we live the full life He intends for us. Sharing life through community is part of our design, but meaningful relationships aren’t always easy to find. That’s why connect groups exist—to make these life-changing relationships relevant and accessible to you.

Some Connect Groups that we currently have at MercyGate Church are as follows:

  • MercyGate Chicks (Women)
  • MercyGate Young Adults
  • MercyGate Riders

Each group will be meeting in Sunday evenings and teaching from the same curriculum designed by Pastor Don to help you grow, connect, and understand the values and culture we have here at MercyGate. You may choose your home group by location, leader, or whether or not there is a place for children. We have home groups now meeting in Anahuac/Liberty, Baytown, Cove, Mont Belvieu, Beach City, and Crosby. Our home groups are the easiest way to connect and grow and joining one is even easier!

MercyGate Home Groups are held in 6 week increments three times a year. Refer to the Events section of this website to see when the next Home Group Semester begins.
